Thomas Ferraro (b. 1954) is an American artist with a studio practice in his hometown of Erie, Pa. Thomas’ oil paintings explore identity informed by a sense of time and place. As the co-founder of the Looking Glass Art Project, he has collaborated in over thirty mural and sculpture projects over the past decade and has mentored many regional artists on his methodology and artistic practices.
His public art work has sharpened the focus of his paintings bridging the intersection of public and intimate private spaces emphasizing the impact of place on one’s identity. He combines landscape, the built environment and figurative imagery and is heavily influenced by his love for art history, particularly painters whose focus has been on the human condition.
Thomas continues to exhibit extensively both regionally and nationally and has contributed to the growing emergence of community driven public art projects throughout the Northwest Pennsylvania region. His work can be found in numerous public and private collections throughout the United States.
